A review of the movie erin brockovich

This reproduces the familiar but apocryphal idea that women are A review of the movie erin brockovich constant competition with one another rather than being allies. Wallowing in her defeat only long enough to smoke a single cigarette, she makes her way back to her old orange car, which has since acquired a parking ticket, and almost predictably is T-boned at an intersection minutes after leaving.

But when she finds medical records and blood samples in an otherwise innocuous real estate file, her instincts send her looking for answers Thursday, November 15, Review of film--Erin Brockovich The film, Erin Brockovich, features the unemployed single mother of 3 who loses a lawsuit and asks her lawyer, Ed Masry, if he will give her a job in his office to compensate for the loss.

User Reviews

A defining moment illustrating the struggle she faces as a mother is in an argument with her boyfriend Aaron Eckhartwho feels that he is being neglected for her work and taking too much responsibility in caring for her children.

In the process, she meets a terrific man Aaron Eckhart and goes about trying to save the day while keeping her kids happy and the house clean. It was the first real assault afterone of the best film years ever.

Unfortunately, the other female characters in this film are disappointingly pigeonholed into familiar roles, deliberately contrasting with Brockovich in myriad ways only as a means to further glorify her and set her apart.

Now, it's come home. For the sake of the movie-going public, I pray that she can keep it up.

Customer reviews

Things don't go as planned, but the sharp lady reels in a job with the lawyer amidst the turmoil. With her, it's funny, engaging, and ultimately worthwhile. She obviously cares very much for her children and wants nothing more than to be able to provide for them.

This film is more impressive than most in its portrayal of womanhood, Brockovich embodying a conglomeration of qualities which fictional accounts rarely conflate.

She inhabits the role completely, and while you never forget that it's a movie star on the screen, you're reminded that Brockovich is indeed a real person, with all the complexities that that entails. At first, the position fits her like a burlap sack: In the face of poverty, motherhood and romantic entanglements, it is clear how she grew to project a tough exterior for the sake of survival.

Very little of has lived up to the standards Erin Brockovich set.

Erin Brockovich Movie Review

This movie has the eerie tang of so many other wretched Roberts vehicles of the past: Now confronted with the failure of her lawsuit, Brockovich is set back further than before, and forced to be even more driven and resourceful in her methods of obtaining her next paycheck.

As long as I have one ass instead of two, I'll wear what I like, if that's alright with you I would recommend anyone and everyone to watch this film.

Supporting Roberts is a terrific cast. As Erin's boss, Finney shares a great chemistry with Roberts, as his character's passion for justice is rekindled by his outspoken filing clerk turned paralegal.

‘Erin Brockovich’ town shrinking

With her curiosity piqued, Erin convinces Ed to allow her to investigate the connection, and she treks out to the desert town of Hinkley. In a decision rarely made in fictional stories, Brockovich chooses to prioritize her work over her romantic relationship, a powerful choice challenging the familiar trope of a woman realizing that love is more important than her ambition.

If that isn't personal then I don't know what is! At the start of the film, the down-on-her-luck Erin Brockovich Roberts finds herself in dire financial straits after getting into a car accident.

Roberts' dialogue is minimal in this scene, but it is clear that her character is devastated by the personal toll that her career has taken. I think we got off on the wrong foot.

Soderbergh's direction has a certain pep to it, but lacks the strength of Out of Sight or last year's The Limey; this seems more like a job-for-hire than something he truly believes in.

Her time spent doing that, however, puts some strain on her relationship with her children and her boyfriend who she apparently sleeps with. Eventually, however, he gets tired of her long absences.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Story is ultimately about how a downtrodden but determined woman fights to make her innate sense of self-worth stick and be acknowledged by the world. What makes you think you can walk in there and find what we need?

For the first time in my life, I've got people respecting me George felt like he was being used and left, but this didn't stop Erin from caring for him, as portrayed when she brought him to the Jensen's home at the end. She speaks her mind, doesn't take crap from anybody, and is relentless to the point of annoyance-- until you realize she has mouths to feed and little to feed them with.

And perhaps it is solely for the sake of remaining faithful to the true story on which this is based that her character was created with such dimension. She starts work as a file clerk in Ed's office and some files about a pro-bono case involving real-estate and medical records against Pacific Gas and Electric Company seemed rather strange.Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) is a brash research assistant who works for an attorney (Albert Finney) in a small law office and, without any formal education or legal experience, builds a lawsuit against a utility company responsible for contaminating a town's water supply.

Erin Brockovich (whom Julia Roberts brought to life) is a single, unemployed mother who comes across this process by chance, while working (almost by favor) in a law firm. Julia Roberts has had, in this film, one of the most remarkable works of her career to date, along with "Notting Hill".

Mar 17,  · Erin Brockovich-Ellis is an unemployed single mother, desperate to find a job, but is having no luck. This losing streak even extends to a failed lawsuit against a doctor in a car accident she was in.

With no alternative, she successfully browbeats her lawyer to give her a job in compensation for the loss/10(K). On March 17,Julia Roberts and Steven Soderbergh brought Erin Brockovich to theaters.

Erin Brockovich: The Real-Life Unhappy Ending

The film went on to claim five Oscar nominations at the 73rd Academy Awards and a best actress win for. However, what made Erin Brockovich the success it was is that the title character is not only interesting but also, importantly, intriguing.

A foul mouthed hard bitten, twice divorced mother of three has to fight her corner just to get an honest days pay. Erin Brockovich is being advertised mainly as simply vehicle for Ms.

Roberts (and her newly-impressive breasts). While this marketing may have been wholly accurate in the cases of Notting Hill and Runaway Bride, her latest feature is actually a completely entertaining and even smart little movie.
